A

What
does she do?
Why
would you like to meet her?
Throughout history, there have been many
women leaders who have made a significant contribution to the field.
Here I
would like to talk about one of the renowned Indian female leader named Arundhati Bhattacharya.
Arundhati Bhattacharya is a retired Indian
Banker and former Chairperson of the State Bank of India.
She is the first
woman to be the chairman of State Bank of India.
In 2016, she was listed as the
25th most powerful woman in the world by Forbes.
She was born on March 18, 1956, in
Kolkata, West Bengal, India.
Her father, Prodyut Kumar Mukharjee
worked at Bokaro Steel Plant and her mother, Kalyani Mukharjee was a
homeopathy consultant.
She completed her schooling from
St.Xavier’s School, Bokaro.
She studied
English literature at Calcutta’s Lady Brabourne College and then Jadavpur
University.
Initially, she joined SBI as a probationary officer at the age of 22.
She has held several positions during
her 36 years careers with the bank including working in foreign exchange,
treasury, retail operations, human resources, and investment banking.
She
introduced a 2 years sabbatical leave policy for female employees to use either
for maternity or elder care.
During her
banking career, she faced several defiances she likes to work out of her comfort
zone.
Her quote for success is "If you take the plunge, you will manage to swim
across".
She was blessed with a supportive family
at home as well as workplace.
She tied a note with IIT Kharagpur professor and engineer Pritimoy Bhattacharya.
She tied a note with IIT Kharagpur professor and engineer Pritimoy Bhattacharya.
Due to these reasons, I always wish to
meet her personally.
Her life journey inspires me to do the
