Describe a time when you told your friend an important truth.
- Who your friend is?
- What the truth was?
- What your friend’s reaction was?
- And explain why it was important for you to tell the truth to your friend?
• I believe a lie spoken for someone’s benefit is better than truth. So, I am generally not an advocate of honesty is the best policy.
• Especially during times when some truth is heartbreaking and can break you completely.
• So, telling a lie momentarily for some one’s good is not a bad thing in my point of view.
• Unfortunately, the more heart-breaking truth is the sooner it needs to be conveyed.
• Today I want to talk about a time when I had to hide a bitter truth from my friend for some time.
• He is one of my closest friends and I love spending time with him.
• We were into our finals during that time.
• Everything was proceeding as planned during the exam.
• We stayed up late together working and solving all the questions that might appear on exams.
• Then just before the final day of the exam I accidentally picked his phone while he went outside to get some fresh air.
• The call was from his uncle. It was an emergency as his father was hospitalized due to an attack.
• I was completely dumbstruck didn’t know what to say at the moment for a while.
• But somehow, I gathered my thoughts and talked with his uncle about the exams and explained everything.
• The only thing that came to my mind was that how is he going to take it, will he be able to write his exams after this and suddenly I decided that we shouldn’t talk about this with my friend, and the same I conveyed to his uncle - it took a while to convince him - but I managed it before Sam came back.
• I pretended as always did our preparation gave our exams to our best of our abilities.
• Finally, after returning to the hostel I decided to break the news to him. He started crying immediately. We booked his ticket and he left off immediately for his hometown.
• I didn’t hear back from him for the entire vacation period. I was very anxious until I met for the next year's classes. But he came right to me and said I am mad at you as well as grateful at the same time. We are still good friends as we were before.
• This was that one time I don’t want ever to repeat in my life again but if it did, I would probably still do the same if needed for anyone else. Because a white lie spoken for someone’s benefit isn’t always a bad thing to do.
